The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Does the 7-year-old mare Heiressall (5-1) have anything left in the tank? At early line odds and given the dynamics, we’re willing to pay to find out.

A review of her recent season’s debut in the City of Ocala Stakes at Tampa indicated to us that she was a short filly on that occasion. Check it out to see if you agree: Tampa Bay Downs, DEC 11, Race 4.

Not only was it a return from a layup but the winner cruised to a double digit lengths win at 1-5.

Heiressall now returns to the Hallandale oval where she is a six-time winner. Her trainer, Teresa Pompey, is a worthy 30% with second-off-layup starters, the filly came back and with a speed blowout in a rapid 35 and leading rider Luis Saez gets the call.

Unfortunately, we don’t believe 5-1 will be available at post time but are willing to take a tad more than half of that. Betting Heiressall to win at 3-1 or greater and keying quinellas with another second-layoff runner, Miss T Too (3-1), and the classy, fresh Four Graces (7-5).
