By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com — Transference: The college football transfer portal is just warming up, and it appears the amount of traffic in this year’s portal is going to be record-setting.
Despite an emphasis on high school football recruiting, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are already aware of needs in the NCAA transfer portal as the transfer window opened for 30 days on Monday.
Sarkisian has taken between five and seven transfers in each of his first three cycles on the Forty Acres and could hit the low end of those numbers to reinforce the 2024 recruiting class.
Priorities include No.1 and No. 2 wide receivers and a sack master on the defensive line, where Texas A&M’s Walter Nolen is now on the market.
After A&M DL line coach Elijah Robinson accepted the DC position at Syracuse, Nolen declared himself a free man. The former No. 2 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class recorded 8.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks this season.
Let’s see what the rest of the month brings.
