By Marc Lawrence — From this week’s PLAYBOOK Football Newsletter: There were plenty of games last week that ended with a heavily favored FBS team eking out a narrow victory over an FCS opponent, and Wyoming was one of those teams, winning 19-16 over Montana State as 19-point chalk.
But unlike those other contests where flustered head coaches were complaining about inconsistent effort against lower rung foes, the Cowboys and HC Craig Bohl were more than happy to conquer a Bobcats squad that is the only college football program with national championships in three levels of competition, NAIA, NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS). They are currently ranked No. 4 in FCS poll.
Fading Northern Illinois looks even better when we check the Huskies’ awful 2-11 ATS home record versus foes coming off a win, and compare it to Wyoming’s impressive 11-3 mark in road openers versus non-conference foes.
And that’s the name of that tune.
