It appears we make get a break from the weatherman today and can look for the best races on our favorite surface, and Laurel’s turf course is one of the country’s best.
And how fortuitous since today’s featured fourth race offers a horse we’ve been following for some time. Trainer Kelly Rubley has been spot-shopping for some time. He found a spot at Colonial Downs but decided not to ship and scratched her.
Rubley entered here back on August 20, the race was rained off the turf and Rubley scratched his long-striding, late running filly from the rescheduled race that went on dirt–one of eight horses declared from the 11-horse field.
Today’s is apparently the day for Ylikedis (9-2), back on the surface she likes over a course she favors.
The dynamics are suitable, she’s nicely drawn–post 4 in a bulky field– and prepped for this with a sharp half-mile at her Fair Hill base, it was the fourth fastest drill posted at the training center of 22 3-year-olds to work that week.
It’s a contentious lot, however, and we need 4-1 or greater to bet her straight and will key-box exactas with Shug McGaughey ship-in Vigilante’s Way (7-2) and price shot Quiet Company (10-1).
