The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Trainer Hugh McMahon has found an interesting spot for his new acquisition, Britesideoftheroad (6-1) in Saturday’s seventh race for fillies and mares going 1-1/16 miles on turf.

The four year old filly has shown maturity this year, earning good, figures competitive with deeper here, assuring value, and her course debut on June 19 was promising, albeit while finishing one-paced after chasing the speed throughout.

Check out the Laurel Park Live Video on our homepage and see if you agree that the effort was a good one to build on; JUNE 19, RACE 9. Then consider this:

McMahon is 17% efficient first time off the claim, nearly 20% when he partners with strong-finishing Jevian Toledo, and returns at her best trip; she’s 2-for-8 at today’s distance and 2-for-18 doing anything else. A change to patient tactics can produce the upset here.

Taking Britesideoftheroad to win at 5-1 or greater and an exacta box with sharp-working recent graduate, Ylikedis (6-1).
