With a turf course projected to be firm tomorrow, the racing week begins with Tampa’s usual four-race array of grass events. Our focus will be on the fourth race, a 1-1/16th miles for $16,000 platers.
The favorite is easily identifiable, back-classy Veteran’s Beach (5-2).
Gelded 6-year-old owns the best TG performance figures, exits a key race, has worked strongly for this, trainer, Michael Dini is adept going sprint to route and Daniel Centeno is in the boot. He looks like lone F.
Out interest is in the early line second choice, Marquet Malice (7-2), who leaves from the rail with Samy Camacho for trainer Antonio Machado.
While Marquet Malice is not quite as fast, has has good spacing into this and both lifetime wins have comes around two turns. He won at this trip and broke maiden on this course in the spring.
Machado is showing a profit for 2022 and this one over came a slow break and 11 rivals to win his Delaware Park finale last out. Check out the fourth at Delaware Park OCT. 12 and decide for yourself.
We’re taking the value offered on the gelded 4-year-old, betting his to win at 3-1 or greater and key-boxing exacta with the favorite and Vintner (8-1), who needed his recent start off the layup, a tough-trip prep on the Gulfstream Tapeta.
