Santa Anita Derby winner Practical Move, co-third choice at 10-1 on the early Kentucky Derby line, will be scratched, allowing #21 Cyclone Mischief (30-1), trained by Louisville native Dale Romans, into the Derby 149 starting gate.
Joel Rosario was named at time of entry but Rosario is already in the original body of the race astride Disarm, so he and his agent have a decision to make.
This is a second consecutive year an also-eligible has drawn into the field. Last year, Rich Strike drew in just before entry time and promptly won Derby 148 at odds of 80-1.
According to a Churchill Downs press release, Practical Move was scratched due to “an elevated fever.”
