The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

GOING GULFSTREAM – MAY 25

Jose D’Angelo may have made an astute claim when he reached in for $75.000 and haltered Kitty Quick (5-1) from a turf race for owner-trainer Roger Laurin.

For whatever reason, he gave her time and she didn’t make her 3YO debut until April 28. She was expected to win that day, bet down to 13-10 favoritism.

While no threat to the blowout winner, she was a good second despite a very tough trip, first having dirt troubles then circling very wide on Tapeta Track. Check it it: APR 28, Race 2at GP.

The run was her first on a synthetic track, and D’Angelo runners do very well on that surface. The barn is 21% effective with second-time starters following a claim.

Taking Kitty Quick to win at 4-1 or greater on today’s seventh race and an exacta box with Starship Aurora (5-2).
