HALLANDALE BEACH, FL, May 16, 2022 — No Virginia, there will not be a Triple Crown winner this year, but there will be a Preakness.
Kentucky Derby runnerup Epicenter drew post eight of nine entrants and was installed as the 6-5 early line favorite. Second choice Early Voting (7-2) drew post five and Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath (9-2) is in slip #4.
The race is Saturday, of course, and the field has been set. Here they are, listed in post-position order with early line odds:
1-Simplification 6-1
2-Creative Minister 10-1 ( $150,000 supplemental entry)
3-Fenwick 50-1
4-Secret Oath 9-2
5-Early Voting 7-2
6-Happy Jack 30-1 (blinkers on)
7-Armagnac 12-1
8-Epicenter 6-5
9-Skippylongstocking 20-1

Could not sleep,so with Cognac in hand I’m contemplating using the ,hopefully tired , favorite that so many are using as the single bet in gimmicks With Early Voting since they re the top two figs, great with walnuts. Following them,1 2 4 8 9…1 2 4 8 9. Hard to go against oneself even if ,regrettably, have to use the probable over bet duo,5 and 8. Was thinking about the 2,as if its connections know what their improving horse may do but only for a few seconds..9 horse is also improving and Matthews picked it on top. Maybe an exaggerated pick. 5,the young lady, she may get tired at the stretch, just like I hope the probable 4/5 fav. will. My only WP bet remains the 5 as I’m ordering tickets for the Belmont Stakes. You pulled me in,,, but will only watch the Preakness and not stare at the dumb screen for hours.
58-58 + 1 2 4 9, 5 WP,. As usual,without hitting the exacta it becomes a losing proposition.
You’re always welcome to bet against, or not at all…
