‘GOING GUFSTREAM’ OCT 16

If form means anything, the recently resurgent Joseph Saffie Jr. outfit has the Late Pick 5 on lock with ninth race favorite Financial System (5-2). Claimed by Frank Calabrese for $10,000 from an authoritative score at 7 furlongs in Hallandale. Check the Going Gulfstream Video on the HRI homepage for yourself, SEP 10, Race 2.

What you will see is a dominating win by 6-1/4 lengths at 7 furlongs from on the pace, tactics that are sure to be repeated on the stretch-out to a mile and note that Edgard Zayas has won with four of his last seven rides for Joseph through Wednesday’s races.

What makes us particularly bullish on the gelded 7-year-old’s chances is the notion that this live-again barn is 31% first time off the claim according to BRIS stats and the hike to the $25,000 level is a sign of tell-tale confidence that his form has maintained, especially after a very sharp 47 3/5 breeze for this last Saturday.

Taking Financial System to win, no price restrictions, are keying him in quinellas with improving 4YO Hard Lightning (7-2) and price shot King Slew (15-1) for a barn that’s profitable going turf to dirt.
