The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

TAMPA BAY TODAY – JAN 28

The featured sixth race at Tampa Bay today is a secondary allowances-optional with a small but well matched group to begin the day’s Late Pick 4.

Striking Chrome (2-1) is deserving early line favorite after being beaten a tad over four lengths in the recent Wayward Lass Stakes. Prior to that a narrowly beaten second at this level, albeit on turf. Gerald Bennett has her placed well here.

But we’re interested in an improved filly who has never been defeated in three starts on fast footing and a perfect 2-for-2 at Tampa Bay Downs.

Love the idea that Gulfstream based Saffie Joseph Jr. has left her where she likes to be, raises her confident in class off her DEC 31 win in which she showed improvement after blinkers and Daniel Centeno were added to the mix.

She’s tactical, nicely drawn, and can sit, stalk and kick on. Subsequent to her latest, she blew out a sharp half-mile in 49-flat, 9th fastest of 90 at the trip on five days ago.

Taking Big Bad Diva (3-1) to win at 2-1 or greater and an exacta box with Striking Chrome.
