The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

By Marc Lawrence — From this week’s PLAYBOOK Football Newsletter: A 1-6 effort in 2020 was Temple’s worst effort since the 1-11 season they suffered through in 2006.

The truth of the matter is the Owls were literally crushed by COVID last season. Head coach Rod Carey put it like this when he said, “We dealt with COVID, and quite frankly COVID won.”

They picked up nine incoming transfers in the offseason, most of them from Power Five schools.

Given the fact that the visiting team is 4-0 ATS in their series with Rutgers, who started the fewest underclassmen of all FBS teams last season, this looks like the perfect spot for the Owls to take flight as their mission begins this Thursday.
