The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

GULFSTREAM PARK – JULY 23

Difficult to avoid the favorite in today’s co-feature optional allowance feature at one mile in today’s sixth race.

Trainer Ron Spatz clearly has found Loco Abarrio’s (9-5) hole card after claiming the Valiant Minister late last year.

Since haltered on NOV 27, the son of Valiant Minister from a Malibu Moon mare has won thrice, his performance figures taking giant leaps forward and visually has performer as if today’s added furlong is within his scope.

Getting Edwin Gonzalez on a return call, the gelded three year old has shown an affinity for the Hallandale strip as he’s never been worse than second in eight tries, including three wins.

He’s handled any type of footing and is versatile enough and well posted for a repeat effort.

Taking Loco Abarrio to win at 7-5 or greater and an exacta box with Know (5-1), making his third start since the barn change to the live Juan Alvarado shed.
