Today’s feature in Hallandale is today’s ninth for promising youngsters going one mile 70 yards on the Tapeta surface–and won’t that make Sunstrike (5-2) and her fans happy.
While this is her debut on the Gulfstream Tapeta, she broke maiden on a synthetic surface in Great Britain, but there are other variables to consider, too, all favorable.
She finished poorly in her return from a layup, but that came following a slow getaway, then ran off a bit after entering the back-straight, tried to make a winning turn rally between horses which was too much in a very fast contest.
But today promises to be different. Working thrice since her last, one was of the bullet variety, a rider switch to Tyler Gaffalione hints at more patient late urging here and getting first-Lasix should improve stamina.
Tyler and Brendan Walsh are profitable after more than 200 couplings as a team, the trainer also profitable going turf to synth. Meanwhile, check her U.S. debut from Gulfstream Park, DEC 3, Race 6, and decide on a better effort, or not, here.
Taking Sunstrike to win at 2-1 or greater and keying quinellas with Palmach (8-1), wide in same turf event but a synth winner of prior, and Sister Nell (2-1) who had great late acceleration after securing room to break maiden on debut and goes turf to synth for Todd–a profitable 27% effective with that maneuver.
