IRISH ON ST. PATRICK’S EVE

By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com — Luck Of The Irish. From this week’s PLAYBOOK March Madness Tourney Guide: While Rutgers became the first unranked college hoops team ever to beat four consecutive ranked teams (Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Illinois) this season.

We question them being in this year’s NCAA Tournament.

The Knights’ popcorn attack features the lowest scoring margin (2.1 PPG) of all Division-1 team in this tourney. Meanwhile, behind the 2nd best defensive efficiency in the loop, Notre Dame ended the regular season as the No. 2 team in the ACC before falling to eventual ACC champ Virginia Tech in its conference tourney opener.

In addition, the Irish have won 7 of its last 10 NCAA contests, and they warrant a look tonight.
