By Marc Lawrence — From this week’s Playbook Football Newsletter: Will a week of rest help the once-mighty Clemson Tigers in their bid to remain relevant in the ACC race? Probably not.
At this point, head coach Dabo Swinney and his forgotten band of misfits will settle for any sort of win, as two losses means Clemson is no longer part of the CFB Playoff conversation.
Even worse, the Tigers have regressed this season to the point that the Orange actually own the better offense and the better defense entering this contest! Can we get a WTF?
Even more amazing, our MIDWEEK ALERT reports that when these same two teams met last season, Clemson was gaining 531 YPG and allowing 264 YPG, while Syracuse was averaging 264 yards of offense and giving up 486 yards per game. That was a net of +491 YPG in the b favor. This year, it’s a net edge of +98 YPG in favor of the Orange. OMG!
Clemson has also burned piles of money in 2021, going 0-5 ATS versus all opponents, while Syracuse checks in with a 4-1 ATS success. Only one team is broke in this matchup and we’re not about to fix it. Go Orange!
