While the field for today’s fifth race in Oldsmar starts the Late Pick 5 is competitive, we’ve managed to whittle the competitive group down to two:
The speedy Harpoon Harry (3-1) for white hot leading trainer Gerald Bennett, and the big late kicker, Harrow (9-5) for Tim Hamm.
The choice is the latter for several reasons: At this level, the gelded 5-year-old enjoys a class edge and benefits from a slightly longer trip and the smaller field today.
In his latest, Pablo Morales had little choice but to rally five wide at the final turn, the ground loss making his task impossible at that point. See for yourself: Tampa Bay Downs, JAN 27, Race 7.
Harrow still managed to make up ground on a saltier group in deep stretch and note that Hamm is 26% effective with his beaten favorites. He’s taken to make amends in this spot.
Betting Harrow to win, the price restrictions, and key-boxing exactas with Harpoon Harry and Fatma’s Blessing (5-2), making the switch to Antonio Gallardo here.
