The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

With a forecast for rain from morning until late afternoon, we’re looking away from our preferred turf surface and found an optional allowances for three-year-olds sprinting six furlongs.

A funny thing happened at the start of Bucky’s Drama’s career, in which he was pointed toward turf. After two runnerup finishes, the next two were rained off and he won them both. Mary Bennett is staying on dirt with the 3-2 early line favorite.

While fastest on figures, his early speed hurts him here as there’s speed signed on inside. Further, he’s going six furlongs for the first time.

Bourbon Rebellion (3-1) is one that can come from off the pace and has more than enough conditioning, making a mini-turnback from 6-1/2 furlongs.

Eion Harty trainee mid-moved to victory in his last and the presence of speed at a shorter trip should allow him to make a successful late run–if he’s fast enough to catch the speed. One run could be the key.

See for yourself whether that wide, mid-move translates for you given today’s the shorter trip. He’s worked purposefully and consistently since the maiden win, available on HRI’s Tampa Bay Live Video for APR 25, RACE 1.

We’ll take Bourbon Rebellion to win at 3-1 or greater, and key-boxing exactas with the favorite and fast-working value shot, Bahama Pearl (6-1), with Pablo Morales.
