The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

GOING GULFSTREAM – OCT 14

A highly competitive allowance event for Florida-breds has brought together a diverse group, many of which are coming off winning or win-adjacent efforts.

Our approach today is to take a strange face with potential and another 3-year-old vs. his elders that have been facing state-bred stakes competition on Gulf’s Tapeta surface.

That runner ships back to SoFla for Kelsey Danner who is asking Anamnestic (3-1) to make turf to synth transition and has winning two turn experience including races over today’s surface.

Danner is effective with this type of surface switch and her sophomore ships in off a very game effort in an optional allowances at Colonial Downs reuniting with Edgar Perez, his winning partner here last season.

But it is recent graduate who has never raced on Gulfstream’s Tapeta who interests us parimutuelly. Happyisashappydoes (8-1) was impressive with a two-moves on the lead run on Presque Isle’s synth surface.

That surface in western Pennsylvania is fast than the SoFla version but this horse ran fast and won with authority. There is enough bottom-side stamina in the pedigree and stable rider Pablo Morales ships in to save the mount, his only scheduled ride.

We’re taking Happyisashappydoes to win at 5-1 or greater and key-boxing him first and second in exotics with Anamnestic, sharp class-riser Honesto (7-2) and wide racing Starship Wizard (9-2).
