Might come as a surprise to some but there are still a few juveniles remaining in South Florida and two of the most impressive we’ve seen in Hallandale are squaring off in Saturday’s featured Dr. Fager Stakes.
The favorite, This Run’s for You (2-1), is a deserving one as he won his debut by double digits running fast, faster and fastest throughout. If the early line odds are available maybe you should go there.
But we’re not for two reasons: Don’t believe this guy will be anywhere near that quote at post time and there’s a colt with more than a puncher’s chance to beat him. Hope Turbo (3-1) can live up to his name.
He’s the second fastest on figures in this match but the numbers are competitive and when faced with a choice, we prefer a winning debut maiden that has overcome more difficult circumstances.
It was from a difficult post, slip 11, coming from just off the pace racing in the 3-4 path, fought his way to the lead, prevailed, and eventually was drawing away at the end. We like a horse that likes a fight.
Today he is better posted and gets the services of Edgard Zayas.
Check out his run on JUN 18, Race 1, on the HRI homepage in the Going Gulfstream video section.
Betting Turbo to win at 5-2 or greater, and making a quinella with Kathleen O’Connell’s favorite. And speaking of fillies, the Desert Vixen division for the young gals is also on the docket.
