Handicappers will not need a search warrant to identify the favorite in Saturday’s featured Musical Romance for Florida-bred fillies and mares at the hybrid distance of 6-1/2 furlongs.
And considering that R Adios Jerry (6-5) is making her second start off the layup and her trainer Gerald Bennett is a profitable 29% with runners making their second start in his barn.
But the second fastest filly in here, Spirit Wind (6-1) clearly will be a much better price and is getting four pounds from the choice, not inconsequential.
While she lacks experience at the trip, she does own an open class Any Limit Stakes win. It was an impressive go. Check it out: Gulfstream Park, MAR 19, Race 6
Further, her freshness will stand her in good stead. While the favorite is returning in a month, Spirit Wind is 63 days fresh and she’s been training up a storm for her return for Ralph Nicks.
Taking Spirit Wind to win at 7-2 or greater and a quinella with the favorite.
