Sometimes you just need to take what the racing gods offer, which is the case in Thursday’s sixth race, start of the late Pick 3 and possible anchor single leg for P4’s and P5’s.
Tried as I might, I just can’t get passed Kingston Queen (8-5).
The first angle that jumps off the page is the improvement shown since the Jose D’Angelo claim. Her Thoro Graph figures moved up–paired tops–and we’ll wager that as a 3-year-old she can run back to those figures.
The second is her ability at the trip. Her 5-furlong slate reads a lofty (7) 3-2-0. Note, too, that this barn is a profitable 28% over synthetic surfaces–that from a fairly large sample.
The clincher was her recent trip. Racing between rivals much of the way, she held grimly late, beaten a half length for all of it–and that was against a higher grade of fillies. Check it: Gulfstream Park, APR 14, Race 6.
D’Angelo and Romero Maragh have been winning at a 23% rate at this meet. As stated, take what is given.
Betting Kingston Queen to win, no price restrictions, and key her in quinellas with Whats Goin On (5-2), out of the same race and from the live barn of Rohan Crichton, and War of Wages (10-1), back in form and well placed at this level with Samy Camacho and pole position.
