The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

When it comes to feature races, here or anywhere, sometimes you must take what is given. Favorites do have their place after all, as the key to exotics whether they be vertical or horizontal.

Case in point here is Hello Beautiful (4-5), making her second start of the season for the white hot team of Brittany and Sheldon Russell.

Beaten at 3-5 on turf in her season’s debut, a review of the video indicates the speedster didn’t particularly care for the surface, failing to extend her stride through the stretch.

When she did to begin running again, her action was uneven and, once apparently beaten, she was not abused late awaiting another day. And that’s today, returning on the Laurel main track where she’s 3-for-3.

See if you agree with our assessment on the Laurel Park Live Video, JUN 1, RACE 9. The barn is 4-for-10 through Friday’s races and is 5-for-12 when going turf to dirt. The mini-stretch to 6 furlongs should enable her to gain a loose lead in this matchup.

The probable price being prohibitive, we’ll forsake win and key her in exactas with freshened, surface lover Leaveuwithasmile (8-1) and recently blinkered Princess Adira (8-1) for another barn that’s adept with turf to dirt switchers.
