One of my favorite race meets concludes today, taking with it a turf course that never fails to deliver good racing whatever the class, from the South Florida shippers looking for good spots to start their well bred maidens to $10,000 claimers where form holds up well.
There will be June 30, to maintain licenses and such, until the meet renews in the fall. We’re taking out last turf runner in today’s eighth race that appears a two-horse affair to us, sharp favorite Morgan’s Z Va (5-2) looking to repeat, and the dropdown Stormy D (9-2). We’ll err on the side of price.
We’re expecting her to revert to her effort DEC 20, Race 8. Check out the Tampa Bay Today Video on the HRI homepage. We’re confident that a repeat of that runnerup effort will handle this group.
Trainer John Rigattieri makes it a 25% habit winning with dropdown claimers, and 26% when he gives the call to Daniel Centeno. And now, 57 days fresh, it’s the last dance of the meet. Could she be any more live?
Taking Stormy D to win at 5-2 or greater and boxing an exacta with the favorite.
