HRI Edited Release — According to a report in Bloodhorse magazine, graded stakes-winning Prince Lucky, who was pulled up as the favorite in the Grade 3 Harlan’s Holiday at Gulfstream Park last Saturday with bilateral sesamoid fractures in his right ankle, has undergone successful surgery.
The gelding is expected to make a full recovery and owner Daniel McConnell is currently weighing his options.
McConnell is considering several retirement facilities and was contacted by Turning For Home, the retirement and re-homing program attached to Parx Racetrack.
McConnell credited jockey John Velazquez for his quick thinking during the race, stopping the horse quickly and likely preventing irreparable damage.
