HALLANDALE BEACH, May 18, 2022 — Eclipse Award-winning champion trainer Brad Cox will serve a 10 day suspension from Starting May 23, 2022.
The reigning champion will begin serving a 10-day suspension for a phenylbutazone overage in the the horse Warrior’s Charge, who finished second in Churchill’s Grade 2 Stephen Foster on June 26, 2021.
The date is worth repeating: June 26, 2021.
So ruled the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission in a statement dated last Sunday. In addition, he will pay a $500 fine. The horse has been officially disqualified and the purse was redistributed. During the suspension, Cox may not enter horses or transfer horses to other trainers.
During the course of his suspension, Cox may not enter horses and any of his trainees transferred to new trainers for racing must be approved by the KHRC.
Bute is a Class C positive in Kentucky. An NSAID, it is not to be administered within 48 hours of post time. This is a first-time Class C infraction for the trainer.
