The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

TAMPA BAY TODAY – MAR 23

An opportunity to be rewarded handsomely exists in today’s fifth race in Oldsmar for N3L in for a claiming tag of $16,000. The attraction, as stated is a price shot, Gulfstream Park ship-in Starry Hope (8-1).

In his most recent down south, the five-year-old mare showed improved early. Unfortunately, that worked to her detriment, forcing her to race 4-wide into the first turn.

And the problem is she never had a good chance to save ground at any point. Despite the ground loss, she made a threatening move on the final turn while continuing wide, carried into the 7-path as Irad Ortiz Jr. bulled through, bumping her out of the way.

But don’t take our word. Check for yourself: Gulfstream Park, FEB 24, Race 9. In fact, she did well, finishing gamely at the end, beating 6-1/4 lengths for it all.

Trainer Monica Mc Goey is profitable with her claimers, particularly those on grass, the spacing is optimal for this barn, especially since she’s been raced into condition and attracts Skyler Spanabel.

light in the percentage department but hot at the moment, winning at a 25% clip the last two weeks.

We’re going for the gusto and taking Starry Hope to win at early line odds or greater and boxing the exacta with speedy favorite Thunder Buggy (5-2).
