There are 10 horses in the body of today’s seventh race and five of them exit RACE 3 on JAN 3. Check out the event by clicking on the Tampa Bay Downs link on the HRI homepage and allow some time for viewing, there’s lots to see. Here, the cliff notes:
In terms of the 1-2 finishers, the runnerup was a Calabrese/Saffie production from downstate. Fast-finishing Zao’s Dream (3-1) will be shorter than that but I didn’t see clear evidence why streaking Bella Bella (5-2) shouldn’t beat her again, although the wide draw is very compromising.
I’m throwing deep and reaching out for the fifth finisher in that event, Better Yet (10-1). The dynamics and post are favorable for a much better trip than last time when she finished fifth, beaten 5 lengths.
Ron Potts trainee managed to beat better than half the field after racing 4-wide on the first turn and backstretch, 5-wide on the final turn and finished willingly late while racing in the 6-7 path. He will get a faster pace here and the turn-back to a mile from nine furlongs should solidify his kick.
I need near 8-1 to make a straight play and will key-box exactas with her rivals above, also including (8-1) Secret O’Life–taking a confident class hike and attracting Gallardo for her first run since November at ‘Calder’–in the multiples mix
