THUNDER SNOW A NO-GO

AUG 3, 2019—Godolphin’s multiple Group 1 winner Thunder Snow, back-to-back winner of the Group 1 Dubai World Cup at Meydan for trainer Saeed bin Suroor, will be scratched from today’s Grade 1 Whitney at Saratoga Race Course.

“We took him to the track this morning and he came back to the barn and coughed a few times,” said trainer Saaed bin Suroor . “We took his temperature and he’s running a little bit of a fever. In the best interests of the horse, we will be passing on the Whitney today.”

Thunder Snow, the all-time earnings leader with over $16 million in purse winnings, was considered a serious contender in today’s nine furlongs, expected to be second favorite behind the Bob Baffert-trained McKinzie. Everyone’s task was made a bit easier as the Whitney field has been reduced to seven horses.
