Today’s Tip from Teddy: “Losing Ain’t Funny”
It must be demoralizing and humiliating for a 4-year old horse, in his prime, to still be a Maiden in December. The fillies want nothing to do with you; older and younger animals laugh behind your back; winning peers have all been taken on vacation to Florida; and the backstretch workers all make the sign of the “L” on their forehead when you come near; forget about getting a carrot.
Today all that ends for 3-Point of Humor, who did not race at 2, and has had 11 tries thus far.
Most of these have run for a tag. He was dropped in for a $40,000 tag on 3 November and went off as favorite and was soundly defeated. The crowd abandoned him in his next start on November 21 back up to a Maiden Special Weight (?) where the gate opened and he was $15.80-1. Hmmmm. Oh the games people play! Right back, but the cat’s out of the bag.
