The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

It’s rare when after six lifetime starts, one can find a runner that never has taken a backward step. Such is the case with Just A Care (5-2) in today’s 7th race Leinster Sprint Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs..

In start two, making her start as a 3-year-old, the Australia filly moved forward six points on the TG scale, not unusual given the maturity gained in 233 days later.

But what came after is the kind of development we like to see, the incremental time whereby she improved a mere two points.

The record shows she’s won twice at the 5 furlong trip. one in a grass maiden at Gulfstream followed by a stakes placing, the other in a preliminary allowances on Tapeta track at GP.

Can you project a forward move while making her TBD debut in a stakes? Given the spacing and added maturity gained from 3 to 4, we can take that leap with turf ace Samy Camacho.

Betting Just A Care to win, no price restrictions, boxing an exacta with the faster figures Play the Music (7-2) for Mark Casse and hot-riding Antonio Gallardo.
