By Top Turf Teddy – The Prince of Pace — The “Worst Stinkin’ Bet of the Day” for Friday, January 3, 2020, will be in the 5th Race at Gulfstream Park.
Today’s Tip from Teddy: “A horse’s performance speaks for itself; are you listening?”
Recall back in 1963 observing two of my gym coaches engaged in an argument over who was a better player, Mickey Mantle or Willie Mays, that almost wound up in fisticuffs. The absurdity of these grown men losing their composure over such nonsense was very amusing to me. The Bible refers to such endeavors as “doubtful disputations,” which a wise man strives to steer clear of. Read somewhere that the Eclipse Award voting has ended, and better men than me will decide who history accepts as the best, but will not change the truth of any accomplishment or failure of any particular animal, which speaks for itself.
Those of us who wager our American dollars on thoroughbred racing have a chance to put our vote for who is best every 30 minutes, and even when we pick the winning horse, that does not necessarily mean that horse was the “best.” Turn the page, it’s time for the next race.
In the 5th at Gulfstream, please accept my nomination for the “Worst Stinkin’ Bet of the Day” on 4-Hurricane Breeze, first time for sale after only 4 races. Personally, think they pulled the trigger too soon, and if you got 50 grand lying around, looks like a good investment to me. Gets isolated number with industrial strength improvement expected. Really does not look like much competition for her, but if you disagree, we can step outside and settle it behind the gymnasium. There will be a major storm down in Florida today, and she’s called…..
