MAKE MONEY, TAKE A LEAKE

When Seattle traded Mike Leake to Arizona just before the trade deadline he found himself back in the National League where his MLB career started. Meanwhile Leake is 7-3 with 3.01 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in his home team-starts as opposed to 4-9 with 5.66 ERA and 1.43 WHIP away this season, as well as 4-0 last four team-starts versus Philadelphia, and 5-1 in his last six home team-starts in August. Phillies hurler Jake Arrieta 0-4 enters tonight’s fray 0-4 in his last four away team-starts in August, along with a 5.25 ERA with 1.61 WHIP in his last seven overall starts. Remember, Leake was a two-time pitcher of the year in the PAC-10 where he went 16-1 with a 1.71 ERA in his junior year at Arizona State. Now back home in Arizona, don’t be surprised if pitching back in the Senior Circuit is just the magic elixir that Leake has been looking for. Stay tuned.

On Money Earning List, G.O.A.T. Brady Ranks Fourth!

According to Axios Sports, if NFL quarterbacks were ranked by the amount of money they earned while under contract in the league, the all-time career Top 4 QB list would read: Peyton Manning ($249M), Eli Manning ($235M), Drew Brees ($222M), and Tom Brady ($212M). It’s strange to see the all-time rings leader in the No. 4 slot in these days and times.

On Today’s Scorecard

Dodgers: Kershaw 10-1 $ with 2.48 ERA and 1.05 WHIP home this season, and 7-1 $ home in August … Cleveland: Plesac 6-0 $ at night this season … Cubs: Lester 6-1 $ home career vs. Athletics … Arizona: 10-2 series vs. Rockies … San Diego: 6-0 series vs. Mariners.
