To begin the race week, once again we’re opting for a large-field turf race, even if it is for maiden claiming fillies running for a $16,000 tag.
The form boils down to the three early line choices: Guidance (2), Ligeia (7-2) and Lizqueenfleurdelis (3-1).
When it comes down to trip, early favorite Guidance had the toughest, biding her time with good position throughout. But when it came time to get the money, she or her rider, could not burst through when a seem opened soon after entering the stretch.
Failing to get through, she ducked to the inside late and gained the placed in a game try.
Ligeia and Lizqueenfleurdelis finished close up second and third but the latter had it tougher.
While both saved ground most of the wide, Legeia tipped 3-4 wide on the straightaway and held off ‘Liz’ who was doing the better work, coming from farther back to reach near even terms at the finish. With ‘Liz’ enjoying the better draw today, we prefer he chances.
Believing that Guidance will be overbet, we’re going for any value offered on Lizqueenfleurdelis. Taking the Moises Yanez filly to win at 5-2 or greater, an exacta box with the favorite, and using Ligeia to fill in the trifecta.
