The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

The competition for all Arkansas Derby contestants got a little easier now that two horses, one in each division of the split Grade 1, have been withdrawn by their connections.

Shooters Shoot, who was expected to hound the speed of Charlatan in the first division will bypass the race due to a fever, trainer Peter Eurton announced, whose juvenile champion Storm the Court will face favored Nadal and eight others in the second division.

California-bred Fast Enough will miss the second division with a shin injury, announced trainer Rafael Becerra, adding that the colt will be on injured reserve from four to six months.
