NO BONDS, NO CLEMENS

By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com — Pop Go The Weasels. The results of the steroid era have spoken and with it some of greatest talents in MLB history will likely remain on the outside looking in at the Hall Of Fame.

Meanwhile, kudos to David Ortiz on his election to Cooperstown. The three-time champion, seven-time Silver Slugger and 10-time All-Star was the only player selected in this year’s vote.

Ortiz is in, but Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens — controversial candidates in their final year on the ballot — failed to make the cut.

“Not having Barry (Bonds) and Roger (Clemens) join me is hard for me to believe, to be honest with you,” said Big Papi. “These guys, I did not even compare myself with them.”

The sad fact of the matter is Bonds and Clemens would likely have been first-ballot HOFs without PEDs. They made their bed. Now they have to sleep in it. On the flip side, Bonds and Clemens have officially become members of MLB’s Hall Of Shame
