Today’s Tampa feature is a starter allowances for three year old fillies sprinting six furlongs and, unfortunately, appears to be a battle that will come down to the two early line choices; The Goddess Lyssa (9-5) and Richies Great Girl (2-1).
The Goddess Lyssa, one of two for Gerald Bennett here is the clear speed of the speed. Seeking her third straight career win, she opened a clear lead on a tiring track and had little problem maintaining her open-lengths margin to the finish. Daniel Centeno will help her do that again.
But it is Richies Great Girl who intrigue. After being virtually eliminated at the start vs. tougher at Gulfstream last out, she made a strong mid-race move but tired as odds-on favorite took advantage of dynamics and drew off. Check the Tampa Bay Today Video, GP RACE 8, MAR 5.
If great significance today, she’s back with her own kind, returns to a surface over which she’s 1-for-1 and gets Antonio Gallardo for Larry Rivelli, a ship-in wizard adept with short-timed returnees. The table appears set for a minor upset.
