Here is another strange but true distance; 1 mile and 40 yards. Don’t we have enough factors to contend with? Query, if my horse is in front after 1 mile, is there a consolation prize? That would be a great Final Jeopardy sports question, to wit: “Who was the jackass who invented the thoroughbred racing distance of 1 mile and 40 yards?” Probably the same guy who invented the “about” distances.
There are some capricious and speedy young girls in here, and this type always seems to break my heart, on and off the racetrack. 3-Two Sixty gets top number, which is probably a bit overly inflated due to those purses at Gulfstream. Being a fool for fast fillies forever, believe she is the fastest; if only she can make it that last 40 yards….
