The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

The turf finale at Tampa Bay Friday is a beauty, especially if you love horses at different ages in search of their proper present level. It’s an NX1 allowances going a mile and we like the confidence John Rigattieri moving Stormy D (6-1) from a claiming starter handicap to open company.

The course lover brings a (5) 2-2-1 slate to the party but for us, it’s the cutback to one mile that makes the difference, a trip at which she’s 3-for-5 lifetime. She will get a lot more pace than she did going 11 furlongs last out and hopefully a cleaner trip, too.

Check out that race, MAR 29, RACE 4, on the Tampa Bay Today Video on the home page and note that he appeared to be rated into submission but instead, rallied inside at the turn, checked in close on the rail entering the stretch but still rallied in the lane, a very game third.

We’ll take Stormy D on the rise at 4-1 or greater and key-box exactas with LAY-2 dropdown Connectivity (5-2) and sharp stretch-out Sweetly Maid (12-1) as the blinkers come off.
