We’re thinking that the official chart of Pudding’s (7-2) last race in Hallandale, in which he finished second to Willi Boi, did him a bit of a disservice, saying that he finished “willingly.” He had a lot more kick than that.
Take a look at Gulfstream Park, JUL 2, Race 7 on the HRI homepage video section, and see if you agree. If so, now we’re getting somewhere.
The horse he finished behind subsequently came back and finished third in a graded stakes–at Saratoga. You might recognize the horse that beat him in upstate New York; goes by the name of Jackie’s Warrior.
So, yes, Pudding is exiting a live race, he returns with good spacing, trainer Elizabeth Nobles, is 23% profitable in LAY-3 scenarios and, most compelling, he stretches out to 7 furlongs in today’s Benny the Bull Stakes, at which he is a career 4-for-7.
Nobles does a lot of winning with Leonel Reyes, who takes the return call. And the price rates to be fair.
We’re taking Pudding to win at 3-1 or greater and a quinella with classy, fast working Horse for Course, Dean Delivers (9-5).
