Interesting maiden allowances for three-year-old fillies going nine furlongs on the Tampa turf in Saturday’s sixth race, an opportunity for value without the need to be overly creative.
It’s not that Influencing’s (7-2) trip was so terrible last out, although she could have saved a little more ground Tampa Bay in the video section on the homepage of her run at Gulfstream Park, FEB 27, Race 11, especially compared to the favorite’s trip: Public Service (6-5) there (JAN 30, Race 6).
But the influencing race was far more productive, as three fillies moved on from that key event to win their next start and Tom Proctor is a noteworthy 20% effective–and profitable–with his shippers.
Realistically, she had little chance to make up any ground that day given a very hungry pace scenario but now ships into where the grass is always greener for horses attempting to quicken the last part of it.
Pablo Morales is a plus in the boot, and as a daughter of Tapit, the added sixteenth figure to be much appreciated. We realize the favorite was virtually eliminated at the break but was uncharacteristically one-paced at the end, seldom seen with Chad Brown grass runners, and at 6-5?
We’re taking Influencing, who Thoro-Graph pattern looks explosive and was faster than the favorite coming into this. We are willing to accept as low as 2-1 before making a wager. In addition, making exacta key boxes with Afraid Not (6-1) and the Chad favorite.

Great pick at Tampa, John. Way to go
My pleasure Richard. The winner was one of those “most probable” favorites and a 2-1 favorite is nice. But Afraid Not was the bet-maker and I’m a little proud of that one, and a cold trifecta. Thanks for reading and for the props; have a good Evening…
