The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing


Two featured stakes on the Sunday Gulfstream program and, as we’ve written before, it’s the rainy season in South Florida, problematic when trying to assess turf races.

The co-featured Ginger Punch at 7-1/2 furlongs features a favorite that is very much the filly to beat, Sugar Fix (8-5). And whatever the ground, she still owns the edge.

The last time she faced Florida-breds on turf, she won; the last time she raced on Tapeta Track she was a game second after chasing the pace throughout, earning a competitive figure.

Check both races for yourself: On Turf–Gulfstream Park, DEC 4, Race 6; On Tapeta–Gulfstream Park, JAN 22, Race 10. A repeat of either of those efforts would win this.

Taking Sugar Fix to win, no price restrictions, and quinellas with stablemate Lovely Luvy (7-2) and Passion Plus (6-1).
