The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

By HRI Foreign Staff — The Kentucky Derby In 2021 figures to be an exciting, open affair, indeed, but what to wear?

You may indeed be focusing on the fine-bred horses this year at the Kentucky Derby. You may want to check out the list of the best bred and raised horses like Nyquist, Hard Spun, and more. But all that said, you will also need to know the dos and don’ts of attending the main events of Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks in Churchill Downs this year. The event is said to happen in the first week of May this year, and there is a dress code in place. So unless you are staying at home, betting at Casimba Casino, you will need to know these.

Why is the Kentucky Derby Such a Special Event

Kentucky Derby is more than an event. It is an emotion and draws fans and spectators from around the world year after year. There are packages for ensuring the visitors have a grand time, from visiting the Bourbon distilleries at Louisville to attending the Barnstable Brown Gala. Hence, visitors look forward to this event. We are also aware of who from Hollywood and even the rest of the entertainment world attending the same. It means you cannot be caught dead in a simple sundress or just casual jeans and tees here. Let’s check out the dress code in play for the visitors at Kentucky Derby.

The Dress Code to Follow

At the Derby Room, be dressed in blazers and jackets, vests, collared shirts, and sweaters. Women can come in dresses, pantsuits, and slacks. The Turf Club, the Millionaires’ Room, and the Trophy Room permit people in jackets and optional blazers, vests, collared shirts, and sweaters. The women will need to wear dresses and pantsuits. Men may even come in khakis, women in capris, slacks, and shorts.

The Derby organizers recommend women carry flip-flops or something more comfortable if they do not want to stand long on high heels. They would also benefit if they can apply and carry some sunscreen to stay safe from the sun. The derby event does not normally cancel in sunny or in the rain. Unless there is lightning, the event will continue normally. Women are allowed to carry a small clutch or a handbag and nothing more than 12 inches big.

Since the celebrities are in full attendance here, women constantly like to don their best outfits here. The best way to know the trendiest outfits would be to check the latest in every big fashion line of dresses. From floral printed ones to layered gowns, you can style up in retro fashion or a more corporate fashion. These can even be in bright or in pastel shades and help you look the best for the occasion.

Stripes and geometric patterns on dresses are also in, and remember to accessorize right. Belts that are both big and broad and slim work well on your hips, accentuating the look manifold.

The Churchill Downs has plenty of greens to tread on, and hence, many may find it difficult to walk around in high heels. For them, the best solution would be to wear sandals and flip flops or spring heels or flats.

Don’t forget to carry a pair of sunglasses and a broad-rimmed hat from the trendiest milliners. There is a lot of legacy behind the women wearing the best hats to the stands. Thankfully today, there are Southern Belle style and the other fancier hats to try this summer to the Kentucky Derby.

You will find plenty of inspiration online ahead of the races to style up as you head for the Kentucky Derby races.
