The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Jockey assignments make today’s feature eighth race allowances intriguing involving Edge of Glory (6-1) and the favored Alexander Helios (8-5).

Edge of Glory has been away since last January, recuperated this fall at the Fair Hill training center and has been working with purpose in Oldsmar.

The prolific Jamie Ness has the controlling speed in this mile and a sixteenth and lands Samy Camacho, Tampa’s leading rider.

Meanwhile, there is no question that the 4-year-old Cairo Prince colt has improvement since coming under Saffie Joseph Jr’s care in 2023.

Alexander Helios earned layover figures in his last two Kentucky runs and was visually impressive in his recent maiden breaker.

But instead of stable rider Edgard Zayas, Oisin Murphy is scheduled to make the drive north on Alligator Alley, given an opportunity to ride for a powerhouse outfit and the lion’s share of a $54,000 pot.

We’ll go along for the ride. Alexander Helios to win, no price restrictions, exacta box with Edge of Glory.
