THE GOAT DECLINE OF 2019

By Marc Lawrence — ESPN’s Bill Barnwell has been breaking down every NFL free agent and offseason trade. He’s of the belief that even Tom Brady would acknowledge that he declined in 2019. And at $30M per season the Patriots were no longer interested in his services. Last season, over the past decade, Brady posted his worst off-target percentage (21.7) rate as well as his second-worst passer rating in the red zone (91.3). His QBR was just 20.5, which is less than half of his previous low of the decade, at 49.4, and the third-worst mark in the league. And for the first time in memory he struggled in the red zone. Yes, he sorely missed Gronk. The question is can he adapt to Bruce Arians’ metric of average air yards per attempt in which his teams have ranked in the Top 10 each of the last 11 years … Brady’s Pats only once over the same span. The Detroit Patriots
The Detroit Lions signed former Cleveland Browns No. 1 pick Danny Shelton to a free agent contract yesterday. Shelton was subsequently shipped by the Browns to New England. In addition the Lions also acquired safety Duron Harmon in a separate trade from New England. Shelton and Harmon become the fourth and fifth members of the Patriots to join the Lions over the past two offseasons under Detroit head coach Matt Patricia, the former Patriots defensive coordinator.
Grinding Out The Profits
Nuggets worth their weight in gold from the 2020 PLAYBOOK Football Preview Guide Magazine … New Bucs QB Tom Brady is 38-11 SU and 35-12-2 ATS in his career when not favored by 7 or more points in games against the NFC, including 18-1 SU and 16-3 ATS versus sub .600 opponents.
