An attractive and competitive maiden allowances on the Tampa turf to begin the week and must confess we love the way the “house horse,” Golden Ibis (5-1) is coming up to her second turf start in the U.S.
After making no impression in her debut in France, obviously issues kept her off the track for 22 months, She returned in an off turfer, a race she needed badly, trained well subsequently and finally returned to grass against a salty group of maidens going a mile.
Showing freshness, she stalked the speed all the way around, loomed a threat at headstretch and continued gamely to the sixteenth pole where he tired. But the important thing is she showed affinity for the grass.
Her next start was on the synthetic, a change-of-pace closing effort as Presque Isle, one that has gotten her fit. Subsequently, she was sharpened with a series of sharp drills for Arnaud Delacour, including a bullet, and has been stabled here for weeks awaiting this spot.
Her early speed will serve her well and she she runs back to her promising grass debut–check it out on the Tampa Bay Video, LAUREL PARK, SEP 17, RACE 3–and see if you agree that this four- year old shows promise on turf. We’re convinced.
Taking Golden Ibis to win at 5-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with Gaelic Tales (5-2) and Gaelic Gold (7-2). Include Lenten Rose (20-1) in super-exotics.
