UPDATES COMPLETE: ‘TRIFECTA MILLION’ PLAYS FROM SARATOGA, FRANKLIN AND OCEANSIDE

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL, September 2, 2022 — The three races; the Jockey Club Gold Cup, TVG Pacific Classic and Mint Million offer a little bit of everything; versatility, brilliance. and some great old pros.

The Jockey Club Gold Cup will be run for the second time at the Spa, just well as since Belmont Park is closed for upgrading and renovation with the Belmont Fall Meet shifting to Aqueduct.

The JCGC, aka “Kelso’s Race,” usually features a big name, an established star. There are some very, very talented horses in this year’s renewal, one of which may take his reputation to that elite level. Only the race can qualify such status.

In Oceanside, the brilliant Flightline will either distinguish himself as truly one for the ages, or the mile and a quarter distance could expose a limitation. On performance figures, it’s his race to lose.

However, make no mistake; Flightline is a star. How brightly he shines will be known for certain in the final furlong of Del Mar’s signature event.

At the European styled Kentucky Downs, the former Dueling Grounds known for an undulating grass surface and obscenely rich purses, the Mint Million will showcase some of the hardest hitting 6- 7- and 8-year-old veterans in search of a huge payday.

Like the JCGC, the Mint Million is wide open and also requires further review.

For now, a brief note about the fastest horse in America based on anyone’s speed figures: a four-year-old son of Tapit with uncommon zip:

TVG PACIFIC CLASSIC Del Mar Race 10

The Skinny: There’s but one storyline. Flightline will either run the competition off its collective feet or he doesn’t stay the trip.

We did mention he’s by Tapit, yes?

Flightline owns a 2021 win over the track and while not the swiftest Thoroughbred away from the barrier, he gets into his rhythm in a matter of strides and never has been seriously threatened thereafter. Ever. His is the kind of brilliance that’s truly stunning to witness.

Is he one of the ones? We shall see.

MOST PROBABLE WINNER: 5-Flightline (1-5)

EARLY LINE VALUE: 4-Express Train (12-1)

STRAIGHT WAGER and EXOTICA: Exacta Key 5 // (Country Grammer [4-1]) 2. 4. Trifecta Key: 5 // 2.4 // 2.4. Small saver wager on Express Train to win at 10-1 or greater.
