The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Stormy Embrace, a two-time winner of the G2 Princess Rooney and with a guaranteed stall in this year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, returns from a brief freshening in Saturday’s listed Sheer Drama Stakes at Gufstream Park.

Kathleen O’Connell-trained filly will face eight Florida-bred rivals at seven furlongs. Regular rider Wilmer Garcia will return to get her on the road back to the Filly & Mare Sprint in which she suffered a horrendous trip in 2018.

Her main competition is expected to come from Shanghai Starlet, trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Edgard Zayas, and Meshack, a Joe Orseno trainee partnered by Jairo Rendon.
