The Saturday feature in Hallandale is the Miss Gracie Stakes for three-year-old fillies going a mile and a sixteenth on Tapeta Track. It’s drawn a highly competitive field of nine.
There is a good mix speed speed, stalking and late run types in here and the one dynamic about Tapeta Track is that those horses who specialize on this surface tend to hold form longer. We’ll test that theory here.
When last seen, Therearenorules (9-2) was making an auspicious All-Weather debut after dropping out of a listed stakes on the main track.
She looked out of it early, was forced to make a wide, sweeping turn move, was tested leaving headstretch and showed some class to prevail gamely by a neck, moving forward incrementally on the Thoro-Graph scale.
Indeed, she has a good figure and comes off a tough trip, so our concern was her coming back in 15 days given that scenario. But we’re going to trust the filly and trainer Tom Proctor for entering her right back.
And we’re going to trust the scenario because it’s worked before, breaking maiden returning in 14 days two months ago. But check out her recent AW win here, July 8, Race 8, posted in the video section on the HRI homepage.
Taking Therearenorules to win at 7-2 or greater and key-boxing trifectas with Omixochiti (5-2), Miss You Ella (7-2), and Soul of an Angel (30-1),
