GOING GULFSTREAM – MAR 19

Before any potential rain falls on the racing parade, we hope to strike early with the early favorite in today’s opener at Gulfstream before it has a possible chance to be rescheduled to the All-Weather.

In short, despite the fact he’s making a seasonal debut, Chad Brown’s Root Cause (5-2) appears to lay over the group he meets going nine furlongs on the Hallandale lawn.

His career debut was a good one as he nearly overcame a troubled start but did well to finish second going 1-1/16 miles in Saratoga. He beat the show finisher by 4 lengths in the 10-horse field.

Getting first Lasix for his return and retaining Irad, Ortiz he is well meant to handle today’s added trip after training very well at his Payson Park base, especially his most recent gate breeze in :49-flat.

This move was sixth fastest of 73 sophomores to work that distance the week of March 11 and the son of Into Mischief rates to become the next runner to break maiden on grass recently, both here and up north at Tampa Bay Downs.
